Today, we worked again and then this afternoon we went around all the whale-watching places to ask about spaces. We got on one at Tasty Blokes place. Unfortunately one bloke on there was severely seasick so that didn't make for too good a trip. This evening we had to go out to the Crab Dock as Claire had left her BUNAC telekey card on the phone. She was really stunned and kind of confused because her friends from Swansea were going to come here. We went to Blue Heron Pub and had some local Vancouver Island lager which wasn't bad but quite expensive ($3.50).
Sunday 10th August
Today, was weird.
We worked again but finished quite early and decided to spend the afternoon at Tonquin beach. Claire's friends never materialised. There was a cryptic message saying they were going to Whistler.
I lay in something not pleasant at the beach which resulted in me throwing away my towel but am going to nick one from work tomorrow.
Claire went off on her own this afternoon. I do feel as if I'm holding her back slightly but at the same time I don't want to be left behind metaphorically speaking.
Aaron called and we're meeting him on Tuesday at the Coffee Pod at 3pm. Will be kind of strange as we have no idea what he looks like. Claire's upset because we reckon that we're only allowed to go Kayaking once and she's done that. We're hoping that Aaron will offer us somewhere to live as living here is getting to be annoying. It seems that if you're here for a couple of nights or are paying more then you get treated like royalty but more than 5 days, you're treated like shit. It's not even as if it's cheap. I should really be writing this in a letter to someone but I think it's important to write a diary for future reference. I have to write to Mum, Heather, Kevin etc. I'll try and get around to it next week.
Theresa is leaving on Tuesday, Kelly tomorrow so we may be moved again soon.
Monday 11th August
We worked again, although I had to be dirty working because there were capacity problems with the shower. This afternoon we went to Ucluelet. Everyone had said that it wasn't up to much and they were right. Unfortunately the weather turned bad so nothing would have looked good today. We seemed to walk for miles and now are really knackered. It is a good feeling though.
We watched a film this evening "Corina, Corina". It was really nice but frustrating at the same time. I think Claire is beginning to get annoyed because we're not meeting people enough. We get to see Aaron tomorrow though and there's a salmon BBQ on Saturday so maybe things will get better. Kelly didn't move but she says she's going tomorrow, apparently she's said it a few times.
