Wednesday 6th August
Worked again today and we were either tired or just slow as we had to rush after lunch in order to get finished to go whale-watching at 3pm. We made it though. Unfortunately the front seat on the boat broke so we got 3/4 of the way there and then had to come back. But we didn't pay for it so it doesn't really matter. Am now doing the laundry , about time too as I think I'm wearing was the last pair of knickers!
We move upstairs at the hostel today, so we have our own room, we can finally unpack! It will feel good to have somewhere to veg on our own. I reckon we will be here about 6 weeks and then into Vancouver and up to Banff, I am a bit apprehensive as to how we get to Banff but I'm trying to live for the day as it were.
Thursday 7th August
Today we worked again, and then spent the afternoon on Schooner Bay writing postcards. We are getting a bit annoyed at work because Hazel, the top housekeeper woman, strips all our rooms before we have a chance to think and collects all our tips! Anyway that's my moan for the day. Dave called Claire's telekey card and after many problems she called him back. He was only going to Banff for our sakes, wasn't that nice of him?!
We went to the closing night of the Tofino Film Festival tonight. We saw a few shorts; "Studio", "Walking", "The Eagle (thing)", then we saw "Bones of the Forest" all about the environment in B.C. and then a documentary on the media's coverage of Nicaragua. We were falling asleep on our chairs by this time and so didn't stay for Monty Python.
Friday 8th August
Finished work quite early today and did our chores. Developed films, went shipping etc. We then went to Tonquin beach with Juliet a girl from Weymouth who stayed here last night. I got quite sunburnt but very relaxed. Tonight we were a bit depressed as it was Friday and we had nowhere to go out. So we treated ourselves to Pizza and the Common Loaf Bakery and an ice-cream at the Munch Box. I called Aaron, the brother of James who picked us up last Friday, and we are probably going to see him tomorrow. He lives up at the Trailer Park and we're hoping we can scrounge some lodging for a month or so. Anyway that's it. I'm tired.
