20th - 22nd November 1997

Thursday 20th November
We called Dave again but he was still not there so we decided to go to Niagara Falls and they him again later.  We found a very scenic route there largely due to my not so superior map reading skills.  We first went to St Catherine's which was quite pretty, then on to Niagara-on-the-Lake.  We got out and walked round.  There were some lovely shops with all their Christmas decorations up.  One shop was really good.  It was purely Winnie the Pooh, the whole shop!  We went back after a visit to the bakery to buy some wall decorations for the van.  I've got Winnie and Piglet and Claire - Eeyore and Tigger.  We then drove to the Falls.  They were pretty impressive but I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be.  I called Mum and Dad from there and told them I was still alive.  And then we spent an hour or so in the casino, watching other people gamble their money away!  We saw the Falls lit up and then went back to the van.  Our dodgy headlight has finally given up, so it feels like we have a limp.  We were just going to drive for an hour or so but it started pouring with rain and the road was really busy.  So after 25 miles we were too stressed and parked at Tim Hortons.  We had an early night again, 9pm.

Friday 21st November
The day to meet Dave!  We slept in for ages, mainly due to it raining and not having anywhere to go. We had to meet Dave at 4:30pm.  We eventually left the car park at 11:45am.  We had a leisurely morning's breakfast and then proceeded to Waterloo.  on the way we stopped in Kitchener and went ice-skating on the outdoor rink.  Before then we had found ourselves in a strange town.  This was because I had left my navigational seat for 2 minutes and Claire got excited and turned off as soon as there was a Waterloo sign! In fact it was just a sign for the city limits.  We arrived at Dave's a bit early so we had a brew and sat in the van.  He eventually turned up, he had had his van towed for illegal parking.  He seemed quite happy to see us and I had first shower while Claire chatted.  We sat and chatted for ages then we went shopping while our food was simmering.  We bought some bargains food and a new light for the van.

Saturday 22nd November
Slept in quite late due to late night.  Watched Soccer Saturday while having the luxury of toast.  After breakfast, by now it was about lunchtime, we headed out to the Mennonite community.  Dave scared Claire by making her steer and accelerating they did this for ages.  We went to the Farmer's market and saw some cows and bought some wool and tortilla wraps.  Then we went to the Outlet store and Claire bought some imperfect jeans.  I got quite depressed here as no jeans looked good on me.  They're all too long and make me look hippy.  That evening we did our laundry and walked in the snow.  We cooked Tortillas for dinner.
