Got up late and sat around for ages chatting. We hitched into town and Jo went to see the chiropractor while we put in our photos for development. We walked the valley trail back to Creekside which was a really nice stroll. In the evening we went 'round to some guy's house and watched "Party of Five" which was a real bonus and then "assassins" which was stupid but quite entertaining. We stayed quite late and went home at about 12:30am.
Thursday 16th October
We were woken this morning at 9:30am by Ben who asked us if we wanted to work today. So we went back to the fun job of housekeeping. We did this until 2:30pm. The condos we were in were pretty amazing. How the other half live eh? After we finished we picked up our photos and sat in "Second-Cup" and looked at them. It was really nice to see everyone from Tofino again. We hitched home and sat and labelled our photos. Its a big night out tonight.
The night turned out to be quite good although I spent it talking to one bloke, Darren, he was really sweet and gentlemanly. I came home on the bus and then drank coffee for a while then everyone else piled in and I passed out on the settee.
Friday 17th October
Woke up to say goodbye to Johe who was leaving for Vancouver and ultimately San Francisco. We then all lay in and sat around doing nothing very productive. We called the guy who left his phone number as he was driving to Merritt, but it didn't work. We hitched into the village in a vague attempt to pick up our pay cheques from yesterday but the woman had already given them to Ben so we hitched back to Creekside to catch him up. He wasn't there so we decided to go out for the afternoon. We went to Brandy-Wine Falls by hitching again! The falls were quite spectacular but apparently more so in the Summer. We hitched back and I made another pantry concoction of tomato soup, mushrooms, onion, lots of garlic, this was commented on later, egg noodles, penne and a couple of bits of spaghetti. We then sat around for ages chatting and decided to get a video. Darren went and got "Romeo and Juliet" and Dan and Darren got Austin Powers. So after a huge wait we eventually went to the guys house and watched "Austin Powers". After this most of the guys left to go home so then Claire, Jason, Darren and I watched "Romeo and Juliet". The film was good but I think I would have enjoyed it more if I wasn't so tired and concentrated harder. By this time we had more or less decided to not leave tomorrow as it was 4:30am before we got to bed.
Saturday 18th October
Claire woke me up in time to watch Soccer Saturday and then Darren made us toast. We left the house at about 11:30am and walked back to the other house with Jamie. We had showers and then hitched into town to cash our pay cheque. We had arranged with the other guys to go to Cheakamus Lake. They were doing a kind of shuttle service so we were picked up and driven out there. It was a long walk but the late was gorgeous. We sat on a log and had our photos taken meanwhile Ben, Catherine and Jo walked past us and we couldn't find them. After waiting for ages we decided to walk back to the car and eventually the "search party", Helen and Hannah and the quarries arrived. I went in the car with the girls and Rob and Claire and the guys hitched home.
We decided to go out to Brewhouse for food and beer. So we sat around and drank a couple of beers and then went out.
