Friday 29th August
I struggled out of bed and went to work for 9am. They had only given me 3 rooms as I had to open up at the B+W at 11am. Unfortunately, to otherwise, only one had checked out s I could do it. So I had about 45 minutes watching Jeopardy, did one room and then 30mins watching "Days of our Lives" and I got $16 for that. I started work OK considering I hadn't opened up yet. Had to fix a chilling bin which was quite satisfying. I only ended up making one mistake all day and my till balanced which was pretty amazing. Claire had organised for us to go Whale-Watching after work with English Bloke's firm. We saw some whales again (Yawn!) but we also saw what Claire called a "flappy thing". This turned out to be a Sun-Fish which is tailless. After the trip I had to go back to work briefly to pick up the Eagle's feather that Brendan had brought me and then Claire went down to Meare's landing to speak to Mike about a hike tomorrow. Tonight we are both washing our hair and having an early night.
Sharon left me a message today saying she has an interview for a legal executive job. I hope she does well.
Saturday 30th August
Well, what can I say about today. I worked 9-1:35 housekeeping, then 17-23:15 in Beer and Wine. Of course, the bug news today is Princess Diana is dead. It will be one of those where were you when....and I can say I was in Tofino, Vancouver Island. Apparently the paparazzi were falling her case, she was with Dodi, and they crashed. I can't help thinking there is something dodgy going on though. Maybe a JFK conspiracy? Who knows?
I managed to get next weekend off so I can go to Campbell River and Monday off so we can go out with Aaron. I can't wait. Other than that I'm working everyday housekeeping and Beer + Wine. That's at least 11 hour days for 8 days in a row. I will be dead by the weekend, although 8x$88=$704, quite a lot of money. Now I sleep!
Sunday 31st August
I worked in housekeeping this morning and watched a straight 3 hours of CNN. I saw live coverage of the body leaving the hospital in Paris and it arriving in London. It was kind of depressing watching it but it also felt good because we feel so cut off over here that actually seeing the news made it feel more real. Claire was quite upset about it but I think it was more because of being English but not in England whilst this historic occasion happens.
