22nd - 25th August 1997

Friday 22nd August
I worked with a huge hangover and it was a nightmare.  I also discovered that I lost an earring which was quite upsetting as it was one of the ones that I got for my graduation.
After work I cashed in my pay cheque and went to see Claire at work.  I then checked out the jeans at the co-op and the Himalayan exhibition.  I spent the rest of the afternoon vegging and having a bath.  This evening I rented Muriel's Wedding which was excellent and then went to bed.  I have the day off tomorrow so no getting out of bed. Yeah!

Saturday 23rd August
I had my first day off today and I got bored!  I couldn't sleep in because there were too many people in and around the kitchen.  I bought some Levis for $43.32 which is about £19 so a bit of a bargain!  I also managed to get an adaptor for my CD player finally.

Sunday 24th August
Got a bad start to the day.  Woke up late. Shower still not working.  Not a good morning.  I worked well though as Glastonbury '97 was on the TV so I got to see Tim from Ash and Crispin from Kula Shaker.  I came home, after Mrs Jeung had offered my laundry work, and had a bath, then went to see Kevin who gave me the schedule for the Beer and Wine store.  Then spent 2.5 hours at the coffee pod writing a letter to Heather.  We went to the Sandbar this evening.  We're going to Port Alberni tomorrow to see Theresa.  I hope we can get hold of Aaron.

Monday 25th August
It rained all day today and we still couldn't get hold of Aaron so after work I walked up to the Coffee Pod and then to Aaron's.  His phone has been broken all weekend but we had caught up with him finally and asked him for a lift to Nanaimo.  He said he would pick us up at 9.30pm at the junction because he was going to Ucluelet first.
So we started hitching at 8:30pm after Claire got off the phone from Bernie.  We got a lift quite quickly and we could've sworn they were going to Ucluelet but alas no, so we were left hitch-hiking in the pouring rain, dark and on a deserted road.  I tried to let all thoughts of bears go out of my mind.  We eventually got another lift and just sitting in the car made us feel high!  We made it the junction just in time to see Aaron pull up.  We then had the most pleasant ride to P.A.  We were dropped at the 7-11 and then followed my instructions to Theresa's house.  We finally made it, drank some hot chocolate and went to bed.
