For the last 11 months weddings have been uppermost in my mind so the Royal Wedding was like an indulgent feast. <whisper> If I'm honest they've been up there for the last 15 years!
I loved all the build up about the dress, the flowers etc etc and I'm sure despite the difference in budget Catherine and William were having to make similar decisions as any other bride and groom in the build up to their big day.
My better and worse (get it) 24 hours on:
- the trees in the Abbey (plus someone said they also had strawberry plants) - inspired!
- Sam Cam being bold with no hat. I think she looked great.
- the cartwheeling verger. http://www.itv.com/news/verger-does-cartwheels41467/
- Prince William's Red Jacket.
- the relationship between the brothers - loved the cheeky comment as Catherine came down the aisle.
- The Dress - of course!
- Pippa's frock and how great she looked in it. I'm completely envious and I think Tall Lad is too.
- how lovely Catherine's Dad seemed - what a nerve-wracking moment for him.
- the quiet "I Will"s
- the ring getting stuck
- the Two kisses
- the Aston Martin moment - how brilliant was that?!
- the evening dress. Men always look yummy in tuxedos.
- the continual utterance of "commoner"
- Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie - what were they thinking? Do they not have a stylist?
- Posh's grumpy face
So as you can see the good completely outweighed the bad.
I loved watching it all and now can't get enough of photos and news reports of the happy couple. We had my GodDaughter and her family over to watch it all and have a barbecue. Even her 8 year old brother seemed interested.
My GodDaughter is also my flower girl and we took the opportunity yesterday for her to have a first try on her dress and shoes. She looked SO gorgeous I'm worried she will upstage me on the big day! :-)
Don't worry, no matter how gorgeous flower girls, bridesmaids, etc, may be, they NEVER upstage the bride!
