It's almost here! Argh!

In exactly 21 days I'll be putting my dress on and preparing to walk the 12 or so stairs down to meet Tall Lad and to vow to spend the rest of our lives with each other.  That's quite a scary prospect isn't it?

For the last 9 months or so I've been planning all the details of the day and the weekend and it's only now (and probably when we got engaged) that it's dawning on me what it's all about.
Don't get me wrong, I have absolutely no doubts whatsoever.  I've spent the last 20 years trying to find Mr Right I just can't quite believe my luck that I've found him and he wants to be with me forever!

All the big plans are made; Venue, Dress, Cake, Suits, Gifts, Honeymoon, Hair and Beauty.  At this late stage there are only two flies in the ointment.

  • The Catering

We made contact with our caterers after they were recommended to us by the venue last Sept/Oct.  We chose our menus and price and since then I've not had much contact with them.  They didn't want a deposit so I can only hope that I can trust them.  I've had a few emails saying everything is fine and all booked and everything but I would like a bit more acknowledgement.  I guess if they're busy it's a good sign.

  • The Honeymoon

We normally book our holidays independently but for something as important as our honeymoon we decided to go through a Travel Agent for that extra assurance.  Unfortunately this hasn't been our experience.  From the moment we walked into Thomas Cook in Haslemere we weren't bowled over with confidence.  They didn't have the brochure (luckily we did), the couldn't look our cruise up on the system and we were there for an hour while they tried to get the flight details.  Despite this we booked the 9 day holiday to Alaska (including 7 day cruise) totalling around £5k.  We were told our flights were direct and with BA and we would be able to check in online 24hrs ahead so we could choose long leg room seats for Tall Lad.
A couple of weeks ago I had a browse around our online cruise personaliser and realised our flights were detailed on there so I had a look.  We are now no longer flying with BA (now Delta and Air Canada) and the flights are no longer direct.  Thomas Cook were appalled and they are fighting our corner but it may be that we just have to put up with it.  The terms and conditions probably state "flights are subject to change".  So that has put a dampener on things.

Last Saturday I had my second hen do.  I had two because I knew that many of my friends would not have been able to afford the weekend at Center Parcs.  I wanted to do something different from the usual meal, drink and dance so asked my MoH to organise pottery painting for us all.
We had a lovely time creating our masterpieces at Artypotz in Southsea and we get to see the fruits of our labour this evening.  I hope my mug doesn't look too awful to take to meetings at work! :-)

So far I haven't been so stressed and nervous to have lost loads of weight.  In fact it seems to be going the opposite way.  I'm currently 3lbs heavier than I was for my dress fittings and 8lbs more than my original goal.  The next few weeks I'm so busy at work and at home that fitting exercise in will be tricky.  My only hope is that I just stop eating with nerves the week before and miraculously lose half a stone!  I have however purchased Magic Knickers in case Plan B is required!
