...that's what it took to get my flower girl to agree to be measured for her dress. I guess that's what we all need after spending ANY time in a bridal shop. It's all so overwhelming!
So her dress is ordered, we also got around to booking the men's clothes and thank-you gifts and we took a look at our budget. It's looking pretty healthy considering and should mean we can use some of what we save between now and June for the honeymoon.
Despite decided last weekend that I didn't want a veil I think I've now decided I'd like a "birdcage veil", specifically I'd like something very similar to what Drew Barrymore is wearing here. Does anyone have any ideas where I can get such a thing?
This image gave me quite an epiphany really as I now want my hair done that way too. I have an appointment with my hairdresser on Weds so hopefully she'll say it's possible.
If you came to visit us yesterday you would have found me, as I am most weekends, in my trackies and hooded, billabong sweater. The only slight difference to this usual attire was the addition of my wedding shoes (to break them in) and my smart bra. The latter was an amazing feat of engineering with straps and hooks and eyes etc etc. It took me about 45 minutes to get it assembled and on and I'm still not convinced I did it right. Will have to have help to get me into it in two weeks for my first dress alteration fitting. The shoes were great though - although not the comfiest for doing an hour's ironing.
An ongoing task has been choosing music for the ceremony and the meal. We aren't having any live music at all, we just thought we'd make a playlist on itunes and task someone with hitting the "play" button. My great discovery (and I know I'm probably way late on this) is the Vitamin String Quartet and I've already downloaded one whole album and 5 other "single" tracks. They're great for classical interpretations of modern songs and I think will set the atmosphere brilliantly.
Now we are only 4 months away my thoughts have been turning to my beauty regime (or the lack thereof). I'm a pretty low maintenance kind of girl who washes her face every day with water and may use some E45 at a push when absolutely necessary. But, there's no getting away from the fact that I'm on the downhill rush to 40 and I'm 8 years older than my groom - so maybe it's time to put some effort in so the wedding photos won't have to be airbrushed too much.
A book that was leant to me (thanks Zena) suggested a regime that starts 12 weeks away from the wedding (i.e. 4 weeks from now). So I set to scheduling in the facials, waxing, manicures, eyelash tints and eyebrow shaping between now and June at the intervals suggested. We have beauty salon in the village so I wouldn't need to go far and though I could maybe get a discount for a bulk booking. Anyway once I wrote down everything required I worked out the price......£340! That's half the price of my dress and more than all the men's suits cost altogether! I'm not sure this low maintenance bride can justify it. Maybe I'll just have 3 facials and 1 waxing session and leave it at that?!
your beautiful just as you are!!
