Thursday 9th October
Awoke with a slight hangover and hauled our stuff down to the bus-stop. We almost missed the bus as we were busy eating our McDonalds breakfasts. We dozed most of the way to the ferry-port, got off, bought our tickets and then made ourselves comfortable on board. The crossing was quite choppy but very picturesque. We decided not to go to Salt Spring Island as the weather wasn't very good. We decided to go with Clare to her friend's in Kitslano. They have an amazing apartment but 5 of them live there because it's so expensive (5 x $300). We went out that night and 2 spooky things happened. First of all a guy who lived in the apartment looked amazingly like Chris. His name was Chris also and he had the same mannerisms and everything., it was really odd. The second thing was when we went out to the "Urban Well" the waitress who served us was really chatty asking us where we were from. So we told her and asked where she was from. She said "Winnipeg" so I jokingly said I knew someone from there and said Aaron Rodgers. Well, it turned out she lived with Aaron and Liane for a while when he was living in Vancouver! Can you believe I go to a city with 2 million people and I meet someone who lived with an ex-bloke, it's really strange. Anyway we stayed there and drank some more with Sally, Louise- Scottish, Ben from Bournemouth, Chris from Exeter and Claire. We followed on to the "King's Head" and I finally had my pint of Caffreys although it was watered down.
Friday 10th October
This morning we decided to go rollerblading so after brunch we went down to Kitslano beach. It was quite tricky but I didn't fall over as much as I expected. I did have a close encounter with a bush though! We then got the bus downtown and met Jenny at Starbucks. We also picked up our post from the BUNAC office. I had 5 letters, 1 each rom BUNAC, 1 from Richard, Andy, Niall and Sharon. It was really great to hear from everyone and now I have more letters to write.
We went to the cheap cinema, $2.99, to see Contact and then home to bed.
Saturday 11th October
Today was shopping. I was supposed to buy my jacket but I never got around to it. I bought some makeup and razors for Aaron from the Body Shop and then we went cycling around Stanley Park. We got soaked because the waves were crashing against the sea-wall and we were cycling in 3 inches of water. In the evening we went to the lookout tower as we bought a ticket during the day can could go back as many times as we wanted. The view was amazing during the day and stunning at night. We then went to "The Junction" for cake and hot chocolate and back here to bed.
